Be an Example

We all agree that things need to change

The society need to become more humane

Sanity need to be restored into the system but

No matter how much we try,

Until we get to the root cause of the issues affecting the society,

the corruption of our mind and nature

will remain resistant to solutions proposed and laws enacted.

We live in a society where affluence is celebrated

Without care for its source

Where pastors accepts offerings in millions from an individual

Celebrate and announce him without finding out their means of livelihood

We live in a world where uprightness is foolishness

Integrity is categorized as sloppiness and

Hardwork seen as a waste of time.

The general belief is why work hard when I can play smart and make it quick?

We need to re-evaluate our values

We live in a world where parents encourage their daughters

To get married to a rich guy and bring them out of poverty

They wouldn’t even care if the said guy is as old as they themselves.

I state strongly that the last generation failed us

Cos they introduced us to vices that leads to destruction

419 was alien to us till the 80's. Now it is a way of life

Infact, it is seen as a sector of the Nigerian industry

Some even see it as a profession.

Imagine a Professional fraudster as Job description

Must we continue on this path?

If you are 60years and above,

you are part of the problems we are experiencing

But we need to consciously salvage the situation

for the sake of the younger ones

We need to think deeply about the following

What legacy will I hand over to the younger ones?

What do I represent to them?

What will I be remembered for?

Ignoring thoughts like these is the reason we are in this mess today

Because, just like the body is a reflection of what happens in its cells

The society is a reflection of what goes on in the families it is composed of.

If the families are dysfunctional, the society will be a mess!

Charity, they say, begins at home

We need to be careful of what the children in the family are exposed to

Cos they learn by watching and copying you

Infact, most of their formative years are spent watching and learning from you

The child of an abusive father will either be withdrawn or a bully

The daughter of a nagging mother will definitely be a talkative and a troublemaker

There was a time when it was shameful to be referred to as a thief

Now it is seen as a nickname and in some cases a title

There was a time when extra-marital affairs was absurd

Now if u aren't indulging in it, you are not a sharp guy

There was a time virginity was glorified and exemplified

Now people proudly declare they lost virginity at 10,12, 15years

like it is something commendable and make a jest of a 16years old virgin

Values are twisted, morality is totally lost!

Men used to be providers, responsible and reliable

Now they roam about looking for women to pay their bills

Women used to be chaste, cultured and virtuous

Now woman empowerment is all you hear

Women discuss their adulterous escapades in the public like it’s a trophy

There was a time when being married was honorable

It used to be a dream come true now its seen as a trap and a bondage

Such that married ones still want to remain married while living like single

We need to examine our heads

There was a time parents consider their children in all they do

Put the interest and future of the children before their lust, care and need

These days all you hear is "a child will become whatever he is destined to be"

We need to go back to the basics, Get our acts right

Hold on to that which is right, Propagate righteousness, uprightness, integrity and

Make a choice to always do what is right

ALWAYS BE AN EXAMPLE!
