Who are You

Who are you?
This is a question asked during altercation, quarrel and arguments
Sometimes as a tool for intimidation
Other times as a sign of aroused interest.
The relevance of this question has been dwindled.
Hence its answer bleak such that it is viewed as a rhetorical question
Take a minute and think about this
WHO ARE YOU?
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF?
These are the first set of questions you are asked in any area of relevance
i.e a corporate office, by a potential employee, in any official gathering
yet we do not think it is important to discover who we are
what it is that makes us desirable.

WHO ARE YOU?.... take a time out and ponder on this before you continue Reading

What is your answer?
...............................................................

I bet you 80% are clueless
85% would return the question to you
Of the 15% remaining, a greater percent would fall back to the achievement of others or their family name (i.e. I am the son of Adenuga the Chairman of Globacom)
And maybe just 1% or 2% would give a true definition of who they are and what they represent.
It take a full understanding of who you are to know what you represent.
When this is known your actions and behavior is guided by it
I believe that the above Statistics ( I stand to be corrected), is the reason for the Chaos and imbalance experienced in the world today.
We fashion our lives after others who are clueless of even themselves and who they are.
Therefore, there is this continuous transmission of confusion. The resultant effect being a high degree of delusion.

Think about this
How much of R.Kelly can you be?
How well can you dance like Michael Jackson?
Even if you end up doing it like he would,
The best you can be copying someone is second best
Why not be yourself?

In being yourself you have to first discover who you are...... How?
Here is my Recipe, as a starting point
i. Ask questions about situations surrounding your birth
go back to your roots cos that's the only way you can know your purpose
ii. Find out the meaning of your names
Like every product, Brand or Logo. Your name is a Tag, your identity through life.
Find out what tag you carry and live true to it
iii. Develop a Strong and unique character, consistent with your nature
iv. Stop Flowing with the crowd.
The only way to get noticed is to single yourself out of the crowd.
v. Take a stock of your daily activities

Did i hear someone ask who am i?

I am
Okpomechina: one whose lineage would not cease
Chigozirim: A blessed One
Odinakachi: One in God's Hands
Chinyerem: A gift from God
Promise...........The Best of My Kind....
If you feel i am bragging about this,
It is not intended.
I just told you who i am.

WHO ARE YOU?

Note: Self discovery tips  is not limited to these alone. Read, Research and discover others for yourself.

Progress

Progress!

What is it all about?
What is our measurement of Progress?
How can we quantify and give worth to a measure of Progress?

Many of us measure our progress with that of our peers.
We look at fellows, we feel are below our level, and judge their progress to be insignificant.
Yet we look at others, we think are ahead of us, and make them our yardstick for advancement.
Thereby causing ourselves much pain and depression unlimited.

I believe,
Progress is personal and can be measured alongside your Ability, Capability, Skills and Talent.
ABILITY: Is defined as your area of Competence.
Which implies that which you can do with an air of expertise. That area in which you are reckoned as an Authority.
If you are a trained Lawyer who have worked in a bank for more than 5years, Banking becomes your ability irrespective of your training. Cos chances are you would not be able to quote a Law or even remember the constitution.
CAPABILITY: Is a feature or faculty capable of development or a potential for an indicated use.
This implies that you are equipped to function in a particular field for a particular Purpose.
SKILLS: Is a Learned Capacity to carry out a pre-determined result by reason of training.
This  is not inborn you have to be educated and be disciplined enough to Learn a Skill.
TALENT: Is your special and Natural ability.

The order of precedence of these itemized traits in order of most importance is
Talent                   Skills                     Capability                           Ability (more important)
Your ability is a function of you Capability. Which is a function of your Skills and Your Talent.
Until your Talent becomes a Skill, and your Skill becomes your Capability and your Capability an Ability, your quest for limelight is a Daydream.

Therefore, the next time you want to compare your progress with that of another
Find out if you have same Talent, Skills, Capability and Ability with them.
Else you are wasting your time.
The fact that you are exposed to same environment, had same training does not count
Because interpretation differs.
Next time you are in a gathering (a seminar, a Cinema, church, Lecture or a Presentation)
carry out this test
After the seminar, collect someone's note and compare with yours or probe someone for his understanding of the presentation or Movie.
You will find out that despite the fact that you are in same environment, under same speaker. Interpretation and understanding differs
If this is true, why use another as your yardstick of progress?

The silly thing is
Most people we compare with ourselves are comparing themselves with someone else. Who they have different skill set from.
The fact that you are in same department with that Lady, who turns over more profit than you, does not mean you are dull. Wish you knew what she has to put up with.
The fact that your best friend got married at 25 and you are 32 now does not mean you are possessed.
It might just mean that you need to develop your traits and learn how to keep a man.
The fact that your peers gets mega contract and you just gets the left-over might not mean they are any better, It might only mean you need to expand your horizon.

Stop being the victim, in the shadow of others, and Chart the course of your Life.
Discover your Talent, Learn and enhance your Skills, Be Capable in Something and Develop an Ability.
Then use these as a yardstick for your progress.
Only then would you be objective enough to know where you are lacking

Never envy those on the fast lane
Lasting Progress is never Automatic. It is Slow, Yet Steady

ARE YOU MAKING PROGRESS?

(all definition from Merriam - Webster Dictionary)
