What Matters Most?

Daily we awake and bug ourselves

About the necessities of life

Food, shelter, clothing and pleasures of life

In our quest to make ends meet

We indulge in various conscience condemning acts

And for those whose conscience are dead

Various abominable and atrocious acts

We fail to stop for a while and consider

What the essence of this life we term ours is about

In spite of what you think life is about

I believe life is not a gift

It is an opportunity

Gods investment on us

Which we will account for when the time is right

Therefore, the life we call ours is evidently borrowed

And what determines if you will gain or lose the life eventually

Is how you expend it in this borrowed phase

And not in what we acquired

Take a time and reflect on those who acquired all these things,

we pursue about today and sell our souls for, yesterday

where are they? Of what value are their acquisition now?

Many pursue fame with the whole of their being

And feel they will lead better lives when famous

But consider this

Why does mega and superstars indulge in drugs

And same self destructive habits as those who

We call frustrated due to poverty?

Make no mistake about this

There is a void in human which yearns for the divine

A vacuum that only true dedication to God can fill

Those who you admire, envy and aspire to be like

Might be so ready to give it all up and trade places with you

I once met a rich man who said to me

"young man i truly wish everybody can  be wealthy

And live in affluence because only then will you be able

To determine what is really important"

He said to me

"if you feel empty today cos you think you are poor,

You will feel more emptiness as a rich man"

Conclusively he said

"I wish i could trade places with you

Give up all these riches and become

Free, happy and carefree just like you"

I was shocked beyond words because

As much as i abhor poverty and believe in comfort

I cannot sell my soul for pleasures of life

Which fades like the morning dew

Cos in the end

Living right, impacting others positively

And serving God with this investment of his,

Which we call our lives, that is whats most important cos

When your living on this plane is over and your audit is done

That is the only thing that matters most

(Every other thing becomes irrelevant)
